Creek Week 2009

Creek Week celebrates the importance of our urban nature areas with volunteer work and educational events. As many as 800 residents have participated in previous years.

This year Creek Week will be from April 18th to April 26th. On Saturday April 18th volunteers will clean up trash at a number of sites. There will be a work day on Saturday, April 25th when volunteers will work on open space areas in Rocklin, Roseville, and Placer County. Work will include planting, removing invasive weeds, and other maintenance. During the week there will be nature walks and presentations about wild life.

This year’s theme “Creek Friendly Landscaping - Start at the Source” reminds us that our yards and city streets, parking lots, and other parts of our landscape determine the health of our creeks. What we do in our yards is a big part of whether our creeks have fish in them and even how much they flood. Check out this brochure and the River friendly website for more details.

Please check the Site List (located under Creek Week Downloads in the right column) for a location you're interested in and sign up yourself and/or group for the clean-up!
